Cultural Triangle

The UNESCO world heritage sites of Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla form the heart of the cultural triangle in Sri Lanka and so are a must see. Sigiriya’s 200-metre-high citadel is well worth the rewarding climb past vibrant frescoes, mischievous monkeys and intricate rock carvings.

The ancient capital city of Anuradhapura is a sprawling complex of dagobas, monastic buildings and ponds. Also see the world’s oldest human, planted tree. Take a break from the cultural sites with a hot air balloon flight at sunrise followed by a safari in nearby Minneriya or Kaudulla National parks, famed for their vast populations of wild elephants.

Wildlife

Tea Country

Sri Lanka has been producing the world’s finest tea for over 100 years and so a visit to tea country is a must. Take a scenic train journey up into the misty highlands.
